DIY Project: Teether Keychain
Share
Want to add a touch of personality to your keys and keep a little piece of babyhood with you? Turning a cute teether into a keychain is a quick and easy project. Here's how:
What you'll need:
- A clean, dry teether (choose one that's small and lightweight)
- A keychain ring (you can find these at craft stores or online)
- A jump ring (also available at craft stores or online – choose a size that will fit through the hole in your teether and the keychain ring)
- Jewelry pliers (optional, but helpful for opening and closing jump rings)
- Strong thread (optional, if your teether doesn't have a hole)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the teether: Wash and thoroughly dry the teether you've chosen.
-
Attach the jump ring (if the teether has a hole): Carefully open the jump ring using your fingers or jewelry pliers. Slide the jump ring through the hole in the teether. Then, slide the keychain ring onto the jump ring. Use the pliers to close the jump ring securely, ensuring it's completely closed to prevent it from coming undone.
-
Alternative attachment (if the teether doesn't have a hole): If your teether doesn't have a hole, you can use strong thread to create a loop. Thread the needle through the teether in a suitable spot (make sure it won't tear easily). Tie the thread securely, creating a loop. Then, attach the jump ring to the thread loop and proceed as in step 2.

Admire your handiwork! You now have a unique and personalized keychain featuring a piece of your baby's teething journey.
Tips and Variations:
- Choose the right teether: Smaller, lightweight teethers work best for keychains. Avoid teethers that are too bulky or have delicate parts that could break.
- Personalize it: You can add other charms or beads to the keychain along with the teether for a more customized look.
- Safety first: While these keychains are cute, remember they are not toys. Keep them out of reach of young children.
This simple project allows you to repurpose those cherished teethers and keep a little reminder of your baby's early days close at hand.
